Nordstrom Opens at SouthPark Mall

SEATTLE, March 12 -- Leading fashion specialty retailer Nordstrom, Inc. opened its 93rd full-line store in Charlotte, N.C. today at SouthPark Mall. Over 350 applauding store employees lined the aisles of the 144,000-square foot store to cheer the first customers through the door. The store is the retailer's second in the state of North Carolina.

"We have been looking to have a store in Charlotte for over a decade," said Carla Brown, store manager. "Our team is ready to begin serving customers. We are eager to hear what they think about our merchandise offering and how we can meet their needs."

Nordstrom SouthPark Mall offers a wide selection of quality shoes, clothing and accessories for women, men and children. The merchandise offering includes 35,000 tubes of lipstick, 3,000 handbags, 148 women and men's fragrances, 3,000 ties and 4,000 men's dress shirts in 63 different sizes. The wide selection includes Nordstrom exclusives such as Faconnable, Classiques Entier, Halogen and Caslon. The store also offers Personal Touch, a complimentary wardrobing service, Marketplace Cafe, Ebar (espresso bar), live piano music, a family restroom, open-sell cosmetics, in-store alterations and tailor shop and a shoe shine stand.

Earlier in the week, Nordstrom celebrated its opening with a gala party to benefit the Junior League of Charlotte and the Charlotte and Crown Jewels Chapters of the Links, Inc. Over 2,200 guests enjoyed hors d'oeuvres, live entertainment, a runway fashion show of American and European designer collections and the opportunity to do some "sneak preview" shopping. The fashionable fete raised over $200,000.
