5 Simple Ways to Leave the World Better Than We Found It at Nordstrom

Our purpose at Nordstrom is to empower our customers to feel good and look their best. We’ve heard from our customers that shopping sustainably and making a positive impact are key to this. As we celebrate Earth Month 2025, we are highlighting five tips to help everyone continue to feel good, look good and do good when they shop at Nordstrom, this April and beyond.
1. Shop our Nordstrom for Good assortment
Nordstrom for Good is our refreshed online shopping category that allows customers to shop with purpose. This initiative helps us feature earth-conscious products that make a positive impact across categories from brands you know and love, including Chloe, Eileen Fisher, Ilia, Agolde, True Botanicals, Monica Vinader, Reformation, Farm Rio, OSEA, Bombas, Marine Layer, TOMS, Kiehl’s, and many more. You can also filter the assortment by preferred materials, responsible sourcing & manufacturing, preferred ingredients & packaging, and responsible brands. Check back often as new brands are being added regularly.

2. Drop off your clean and empty beauty packaging at a Nordstrom BEAUTYCYCLE bin near you
Beauty products often come in packaging that's challenging to recycle at home, and with more than 120 billion units of packaging created every year, we know it's a problem. That’s why we were the first major retailer to develop a beauty recycling program that accepts packaging from all brands, no matter where they were originally purchased. Our goal is to recycle 100 tons by the end of 2025, and we’re excited that we’re very close to reaching that goal. Join us in achieving our goal and moving toward a low-waste beauty routine by dropping off your clean empties in our BEAUTYCYCLE bins, in partnership with Pact Collective, at any Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack or Nordstrom Local in the contiguous U.S.
3. Care for your clothes with Nordstrom alterations, tailoring and repair services
Prolonging the life of the clothes you already have in your closet is a great first step toward sustainable fashion. We have the largest fleet of professional tailors in the U.S. who can help you mend, upcycle, and customize your clothes, making them feel brand-new, last longer and avoid landfills. Book an alterations appointment today to extend the life of your favorite clothing items and accessories. From refitting to adjusting hemlines, adding pockets to repairing zippers, our tailors will work wonders on your pieces, ensuring you’ll feel good and look your best in all your clothes. They can also add additional flair with customization and embellishments, and, in select stores, we provide leather care repair services, shoe shining, sneaker cleaning and personalization services.

4. Learn more about our commitment to using better materials in our Nordstrom Made products
We're committed to using better materials in our Nordstrom Made private label products. We're proud partners of the Good Cashmere Standard by the Aid for Trade Foundation and members of Better Cotton. These initiatives support more sustainable production methods by upholding animal welfare standards for cashmere and promoting biodiversity conservation in cotton farming, while also ensuring herders and farmers can earn a fair wage. We're also increasing our use of two important materials to help us conserve natural resources and limit our contribution to climate change: recycled polyester and wood-based fibers from sustainably managed forests.

5. Feel good dining at your local Nordstrom restaurant
We're dedicated to offering responsibly produced foods and beverages in our restaurants and coffee bars. Our produce is local and organic whenever possible, and we feature seasonal ingredients on our menus. This supports local farmers, minimizes greenhouse gas emissions during transport from farm to table and provides our customers with the freshest choices. All our coffee is responsibly sourced, which means it comes from farms that are protecting the environment and supporting better agricultural practices. We continue to use straw-less lids, and in 2022, we fully transitioned to packaging and disposables made from plant-based materials like wheat straw fiber, sugarcane and corn, which biodegrade and become soil when composted in a commercial facility.
